Obviously, the main tool of any author is a good computer. Some use Macs, but I will destroy a Mac within 5 minutes, so its a Windows PC for me.

Notebook

For When Inspiration Strikes

Inspiration can come anywhere. In a Disney Park, in the car, at the grocery store - you have to be ready and record that thought before it escapes you. A notebook is crucial in preserving those lightning bolts of brilliance.

A little secret is I do my best writing on rainy days (or nights). When it doesn't rain, I can get that same sensation with my cloud lamp that has lightning, rain and thunder sound effects.

It is in the case that you don’t want to club your readers over the head with the metaphor and also in the fact that you don’t want to have your protagonist cross a line that readers can’t forgive them for. Most people find power, in whatever form it comes in, addictive.
